Chateau Musar's youthful "Jeune" wines are made from the fruit of low-yielding Bekaa Valley vines at around 1000 metres above sea level. Produced naturally with a non-interventionist wine making philosophy. The first winery in Lebanon to implement organically certified viticulture.
Musar Jeune Red is an unoaked blend of Cinsault, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon from youthful Bekaa Valley vines. Meant for current consumption – within a few years of the harvest – this deeply-coloured, vividly fruity style, first produced in 2007, may yet prove to be a ‘keeper’. Inky-dark, silky-textured and aromatic, with blackcurrant, raspberry and cherry jam flavours and a warm, spicy finish, it has been likened to a fine Roussillon red.
On the nose this wine perfumed red and black fruit with sweet spice aromas. Baked earth and concentrated plum and black cherry fill the glass. This is a richly fruited wien with an enticing core of black cherry, plums, blackberries and black olives. Fresh acidity and soft, integrated tannins make for a nicely balanced wine. The 2018 is a big, ripe wine to be enjoyed in its youth.
