Château Rambaud, Sélection Vieilles Vignes, Daniel Mouty

Château Rambaud, Sélection Vieilles Vignes, Daniel Mouty

The Vieilles Vignes of Château Rambaud is a very classic Bordeaux style and the great 2015 vintage is drinking nicely right now.  Daniel Mouty is the third generation of his family to work the vines and under his leadership the family business has grown into a contemporary company consisting of 6 domains with a combined size of 53 hectares. The wines of the Mouty family are characterised by velvety characters and elegant structure.

Between the Dordogne and Garonne, Château Rambaud, whose grapes, mainly Merlot, are organically cultivated, stands on 7 hectares. The Sélection Vieilles Vignes 2015, which also contains 10 percent cabernet sauvignon, underwent a year of barrel rest. Hence the approachable spiciness in the dark-toned aroma (laurel, leather, liquorice), which also contains some dried black currant fruit. And in the smooth, slightly ripe taste, the 14.5 percent alcohol is just in balance with the other elements.
