Based in the village of Montagny itself, the Berthenet family has been growing grapes for around four centuries, although the estate in its current form was set up in 1974. They work sustainably, allowing grass to grow between rows and working the soil rather than using herbicides. They farm 20 hectares and François Berthenet is the current winemaker.
An excellent example of unoaked chardonnay. François picks relatively late in order to guarantee full maturity of the fruit. The wine has rich aromas of slightly jammy yellow fruits and spices. On the palate the wine is both concentrated, marked by gourmet fruit flavours, expressive and very fresh. The minerality of the Montagny appellation is present and it finishes crisp and long.
