Otto Bucce, Denazzi

Otto Bucce, Denazzi

The Dezzani Otto Bucce was conceived to celebrate 80 years of Dezzani winemaking. Otto Bucce translates as '8 skins' and refers to the blend of 8 grapes used to make it, with an unconventional mixture of traditional and non-traditional grapes. These are Barbera, Dolcetto, Freisa, Bonarda and Albarossa, which are part of the Piedmont’s winemaking identity, and the international, and not so traditional, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.

A deep crimson colour with damson hues, this wine looks very alluring in the glass. On the nose are complex aromas of stewed strawberry, black cherry and a little blackcurrant, with a touch of vanilla and black pepper. On the palate the wine is a good deal softer that you might expect with a pleasing medium body. Ripe black cherry, raspberry, mulberry and plum fruits sit over a creamy vanilla. There is also a satisfying touch of savoury black olive on the finish.

A very approachable and enjoyable red wine - perfect for chilly winter evenings and the midweek Spag Bol!
